May 22nd, 2020: Your Belief Becomes Your Thoughts

Turn Your Beliefs, Thoughts & Feelings Into Positive Actions ...

Someone asked me last week whether I believe in Ghost. My answer to that is I believe that there is a lot more to life than just the physical world we live in. It is an important question this fellow has. I shared with him that how we deal with the non-physical world depends on our worldviews and the belief system we subscribe to.

Mahatma Gandhi once said that "Your belief becomes your thoughts". That is helpful for us to look at this statement more carefully. Our thoughts about other people and various events in life have to be a reflection of our belief system.. For example, I woke up this morning to the realization that today is a gift from God and He grants me to have it. It belongs to God. Then I need to cherish every single encounter I have with people on this day because each one of them is Holy moment. It is Holy because it belongs to God.

Let us take that thought one step further. Our daily interactions with people should be viewed as God's precious gifts. People then become God's gifts to us. If we truly believe in that, we would think twice about hurting people, taking advantage of them, and damaging them. Our relationships with one another will be one of the most life-enriching gifts God has given us.

That is why it is also fitting to see how Gandhi continues with his thoughts by saying that our thoughts become our words, our words become our actions...We can damage people a lot more profoundly with our words. Sometimes hurtful words find ways to linger on for a long time. When people talk about their hurt and pain in the past, they usually refer to words that others used. Words become alive because they are now part of our actions.

Proverbs 10: 11
"The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence."

Luke 6: 45
"The good person out of the good treasure of the heart produces good, and the evil person out of evil treasure produces evil; for it is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks."
