May 25th, 2020: Lessons in Hidden Blessings

 God's Hidden Blessings | Jean E. Jones

Most of the public festivals and events in many big cities in Canada have been canceled until the end of August. People will not travel as much and as often. Life will be quite different for many of us as the summer comes along.

There is no need for us to complain about how things cannot be. There are still plenty of things to consider with the time and the opportunities we have. Many non-profit organizations are calling for help from volunteers and asking for support in donations as the needs of many unfortunate segments of our societies have increased. What would be the benefits for us personally by looking at these opportunities?

Learning how to listen to others on crisis prevention phone line will help us to understand comfort. The more we allow ourselves to walk with those who are mourning, the deeper we understand that God is the source of all comfort.

Learning how to be generous with our time and resources will enhance our understanding of our lives meaning. We give because we believe that mercy is the best medication for being isolated. Mercy is a blessing of God that benefits both the receiver and the giver.

Learning how to do the right things to protect one another is an amazing act of freedom. The freedom to do the right things will help us to defeat fears and uncertainties. Life is filled with joy and hope when that happens. It is no longer about what we have to do to love others. But it is about what we love to do.

Learning to acknowledge that there is always plenty of blame going around during such a time like this. It is tempted to speculate and raise our concerns. Sometimes we just need to learn how to be at peace with God and with others while acknowledging that we don't know it all. Frankly, I am not interested in becoming an expert in evil deeds. I just hope that I will always have a desire for godliness as a novice.

Matthew 5: 3-10

"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
