Aug 8th, 2020: Seeing Life with Different Perspectives
I am thinking about taking a training course on learning how to fly
a drone properly. Yes, I must confess that I have some toy drones but
they are not sophisticated enough. I first learned about the course when
I watched someone doing surveillance for one of my clients' job sites
by using drones. I learned a lot from watching him. It is just amazing
how our view of the scenery changes. It gives us a chance to regain some
perspectives and realize what we miss.
Drones
can go where automobiles and other regular modes of transportation
can't. That is an added power and a chance to see things more clearly.
We usually get upset when we cannot have the whole picture of what we
are dealing with. We cannot make proper decisions because we cannot see.
In my daily prayer, I ask God for similar help that He will lift me up
higher so that I might see what He wants me to see. When we are in the
dark intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually, it is a dangerous
place to make our decisions.
Drones can be used
effectively when we are clear about our mission I believe the same
thing about prayers. Be specific helps us not to be long-winded. Our
minds will be clear when we pray so that we can bypass many
distractions. We need to have a clear expectation in our time with God. I
am not talking about making a demand. I am referring to learning to
embrace the mind of God in prayer. It is a beauty when a drone and
its pilot respond to each other's motion timely and accurately. It is a
beautiful experience when we experience oneness with God in our prayers.
All
drones come with specific manuals. It is helpful for us to familiarize
ourselves with those materials if we truly want to enjoy our time flying
one. A manual would tell us the capacity of a drone. The Lord's Prayer
should be a Christian manual for prayer. It is about acknowledging God's
relationship with us, His essence, His character, His involvement in
human history, His care for us, His forgiveness, our responses to His
loving care, our dependence on Him, and our compassionate response to
others. We can see further and become more effective in our life if we
can just live within that framework.
I am not
sure when I would get a drone that I can actually do some "work" with.
However, I know when I need to pray. There is a tremendous need to see
our world with a different set of eyes. In Canada, some Christians have
decided that today is the National Day of Prayers with the hope that God
will open our eyes to see Him as have never seen before.
The Lord's Prayer:
"Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen."
