Sept 16th, 2020: My Thoughts on The Coming Election in the US

The Presidential election in the US is less than two months away. The conversations among my brothers, who are living in the US, have been very intense. They don't seem to believe me when I told them this past week that I made a decision many years ago not to align myself with the power of the day because that can bring greater temptation and destruction. I just want to speak on behalf of the oppressed, the poor, the sick, and the isolated. Regardless of the political leadership, my aim stays the same. My opinionated brothers insisted that I ought to have a choice. My choice is to believe that God is bigger than any human democratic outcomes. People make mistakes, so are nations. Yet, the line seems to be very clear in this coming election among some folks.

Some believe that it is time for the change of leadership of the presidency. It has become quite personal and hostile, and some might say that the president created that toxic environment for the nation. Scientific America has endorsed a presidential candidate for the first time in its 175-year history. These folks believe that there is a need to restore human decency by voting the current president out. There is still a belief that the sitting president has a close tie with Russia. My prayer is that the nation will be able to find its to heal after the election. America has become polarized and divided that it has lost the leadership to provide the needed hope for the world during this pandemic.

Others believe that the change of the presidency is not what America needs at this moment in her history. They claim that America needs to be strong and willing to stand against China, and the current president is the better choice for that. Some of these folks have quite a different understanding of what America is about compared to folks from the other camp. These folks believe that the economy is growing with the sitting president. American greatness is defined by her contraction from her role as the guardian of the free world. My prayer is that we will be able to see the greatness of God that impacts both America and the rest of the world. Let us aim to make the world wholesome again.

Coronavirus and Racial Unrest Protest have impacted the fabric of America severely. Some think the president has mismanaged both crises. Others would say the liberal politicians that make things worse. Many Americans concern about the power of plutocracy. Some have a great dislike toward career politicians. That leaves us with a seriously divided nation.

Let us pray for wisdom and discernment. Let us remember that the power that God revealed to us in Jesus is the power to forgive. Let us learn how to ask for forgiveness with sincerity and learn how to forgive others with graciousness. Let us look at ways to redeem much wickedness of our history without having to destroy it. No matter what happens on Nov 3rd, 2020, God is still the same God and nothing we can do to take away the reality of God in the world.

Dealing with pain sometimes affects our ability and flexibility. A physiotherapist friend gave me a set of home exercises to help with that. They are simple yet intense at the same time. Sept 4th, 2024: Praying in Images

It has been a rough few days. Living in immense pain does not allow us much energy to think about anything. I ended up praying in images, and not many words came out of my mouth. Most of the images were of people I know. God knew that I was praying for them as their faces came to my mind. I did not need to mention the circumstances or situations of their lives—He knows. My heart was at peace as I ended my days with these images. He will take care of my body, and I know this because I was able to get some sleep. Tomorrow is in His hands.

Oct 1st, 2022: Be With Those Who Suffer

  Listening to a young woman who shared her experience of being raped repeatedly by a family member for over four years as a teenager made my heart ache. The man who did that was a leader of a church. He was imprisoned for seven months and released. He was her stepfather. Her mother chose to pick him over her after his release. Her life has changed forever. She had to go to a foster home. Her foster parents helped her with her restoration and her faith in God. Her supervisor at work asked me to see her because someone at work was inappropriate toward her. That triggered many emotions within her. I did not expect the story I heard from her. The meeting took longer than I thought, and it was toward the end of the day. She kept talking about her anger and the pain she felt when men treated her like a subject.
