Sept 25th, 2020: Knowing Our Hearts

Spirituality form Daily Word: “Light of God” (Espiritualidad de La Palabra Diaria: “La luz de Dios”) – bodyandsoulnourishmentblog

I was walking back to my car after going food shopping and found out that I had misplaced my car keys somewhere in the food court. It was rather frustrating. I sat down by the car and tried to visualize the possible locations. So I went back only to discover that the young woman who cleaned my table had been waiting for me to come back to claim my keys. What a relief?

We have keys for many things in order to keep things secure or private. One of the keys that many of us might not think about is one that God needs to have to get inside our hearts. We need to open ourselves up to His love so that He can enter. What would He find?

A) A heart that needs to be corrected: We have allowed many evil thoughts to reside within our hearts. That has taken away room for God to stay. We have let life circumstances to erode the promise of God.

B) A guarded heart: We damage our hearts by embracing many false promises of the world. We are now dealing a collection of insecure ones. So we have become more guarded toward one another and God. We just want to be left alone.

C) A bewildering heart: We want to love God will all our hearts and yet don't know what to do with our divided and compromised desires. We still long for the day that we can say without shame that we love God wholeheartedly.

D) An indifferent heart: It is not hard to hear ourselves say things like "It is not my problem", "I don't care to know", "Why should I bother?", "You deserve it"...that is a voice of an uncaring heart. We cannot allow ourselves to identify with the pain and the suffering of others. We are afraid of the cost of caring.

The Heart of God is the Redeeming One. It redeems the mistakes, the fear, the confusion, and the indifference of ours. So don't run away from Him and allow Him to welcome you into His presence. When our hearts can experience the oneness with the heart of God, that is the beginning of freedom.

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
