Sept 4th, 2020: God's Beauty
Mask wearing might cause the sale of lipsticks to go south. It is just
hard to imagine those lips with beautiful luxurious colors behind those
masks. Making oneself gorgeous is non-negotiable to many folks. That is
why the cosmetic industry is one of the largest ones in the US and
Canada.
I believe that our ability to appreciate beauty is a
God-given gift. All aspects of beauty belong to God. When it comes to
the beauty of God, there is more for us to discover than what we can see.
Some of them are obvious, and some of them are subtle. We have to take
time to see beyond our limitations and distractions.
The beauty
of the inner-self. It is the goodness of our hearts and the purity of
our thoughts. It enhances the gits and talents of others. It overcomes
resentment and guides us further into the discovery of contentment. The
stability of the inner-self helps us to build more meaningful
relationships. It brings calmness in a tumultuous time. A healthy
inner-self is the outcome of our intimate relationship with God.
The
quiet and gentle spirit is another aspect of God's beauty. Through
that, God reveals His comforting presence. It erases anger and anxiety
from our troubling hearts. Its gentleness is like a needed cold glass of
water while being in the desert. It refreshes our minds and renews our spirit with a
gentle and yet powerful commitment to God. It gives us the strength to
push forward when things become challenging.
1 Peter 3: 3-4
"Your
beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as elaborate
hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it
should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and
quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."
