Dec 8th, 2020: Christmas Blessing - Remember People in Our Life

Perspectives to Remember for the Family and Friends of Those with BPD | National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder

It has been abnormally warm where we are. It is good because some people have been worried about the spread of the virus when the winter comes. After all, we cannot be outside as often. So these past three weeks have been a nice break for many of us. We don't want to take it for granted because it can change in a hurry. However, the warm weather has not been able to take away the sadness of people about this Christmas. Some have expressed to me their feeling of not having an usual Christmas time together with their loved ones. How do we understand the Blessings of Christmas during such a difficult time?

The blessing is that we want to be together. It will be a lot worse if we don't have such longing. We don't have to go far to discover some people we know don't have such a blessing. For years, I have encountered many situations where people have no home to go to and no one to see at this time of the year.

The blessing is that this time of the year still means something special to us. It is a time to celebrate God's faithfulness together and to be reminded of how special we are to Him. It is time to break away from our hectic life so that we can enjoy some quiet moments with God.

The blessing is that we have time to ponder on how fortunate we are by having our friends and family. We might be able to take a moment to get in touch with those who mean a lot to us. It is time to truly appreciate the gifts of other peoples' presence in our life.

“The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him…” – John 1:9-10
