Jan 7th, 2021: What Have We Lost?

Four dead after hundreds of Trump supporters attacked US Capitol Hill | Business Standard News

First, I want to be clear that I will never take a political position with my blog. Politics comes and goes. God remains the same forever.

That doesn't mean that I won't comment on events that are troubling to me.

We all know the infamous opening prayer by Emanuel Cleaver for the 117th Congress. He ended the prayer with "Amen and a woman" He said later on during a TV interview that it was a lighthearted pun considering the great number of women elected to Congress. Has Mr. Cleaver realized that showing a lack of reverence in prayer and misusing the word Amen in that context might offend many congresswomen in the house that day? It tells us the lack of discernment and wisdom on his part. There ought to be a more respectful way to acknowledge the presence of many women in Congress. He then went on and said that he wished people would pay more attention to his prayer. Rev. Cleaver, you are a minister. You should wage every word you have carefully out of respect for your people and your office.

Yesterday the mob stormed the Capitol just 14 days before the inauguration reminds us how fragile our democracy can be. I am troubled by the President's lack of leadership and pastoral care during that incident. He shows no commitment to be the pastor to the nation during such an event. I understand the President believes that the election is a fraud. However, his main job as the President is to protect and defend the Constitution of America. One more thing, it will be a sad day for American history if we found out that the President is behind this event. It is a betrayal of his oath. It is an act of treason. I have a lot more to say, but it will be ungodly for me to utter these words. Today we realize that America has lost its place in the world as an example of how a peaceful transition of power works democratically.

Let us pray for the next two weeks. Pray that God will restore peace, truth, order, honor, and respect to America.

Romans 8: 7

"The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so."
