Jan 8th, 2021: Let God Speak Through Others

31 Days: Listening to God speak through Others | Flourish!

It is always dangerous and unhealthy for leaders to surround themselves with 'yes people'. It doesn't help them with their blind spots. It is like driving a very long semi without good side mirrors. Leaders can let the power and the adoration of their followers screw up their heads. They end up believing in their own songs instead of what God has to say about how they should lead.

We have seen evidence of such leadership both in governments and religious bodies. It tends to open the door for corruption. Leaderships that don't encourage dialogues from various perspectives are not leaderships. These are masqueraded forms of dictatorships. Leaderships that don't have meaningful accountability tend to lead to abuse and manipulation.

If nothing earth-shattering is going to happen in the next few weeks, we will see a new Presidency in the US. For some people, it will be a solemn day. For others, it will be the day they have been waiting for a while. I don't think the climate is going to change much. We will continue to see a divided nation as the US is trying to come to terms with its new identity. It is always good to remember that God remains the same. Nothing we plan to do is a surprise to Him. There are things He does that will surprise us.

Luke 12: 47-48

"The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
