Feb 11th, 2021: The Greatest Right is The Right To Be a Mom

Listening to a couple who is expecting their first child is a wonderful experience. It is both innocent and exciting. I usually don't say much because having a baby is not my expertise. However, it always feels good because it is about life. This couple came to Canada as students and decided to apply and stay here. The young mom-to-be has many questions. We thought it might be helpful to play a game by quoting different people about pregnancy and share our thoughts about them.

"Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother."— Lin Yutang

Being a mom is the greatest right because mothers allow themselves to God's instrument in creating life. That right comes with tremendous privileges. Being a mom is one of the purest opportunities to truly identify with God and His love.

"A baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three years, and in your heart until the day you die." — Mary Mason

The love of a mother for her children will never end. I have seen how mothers grieve over the losses of their sons or daughters. Nothing breaks a mother's heart more than the death of her child.

"Pregnancy is getting company inside one’s skin." — Maggie Scarf

It is the beginning of the relationship between a mom and her baby. It expresses the emotional and spiritual dimensions of that relationship. It is the oneness that is hard to fathom.

 "Pregnancy is a process that invites you to surrender to the unseen force behind all life."— Judy Ford

We surrender our life, we gain more out of life. When we trivialize the meaning of life, it is no longer living. There is more meaning of life by acknowledging that God is the author of all life, seen and unseen.

It was good to be with them.

Psalm 139: 13-14

"you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together(B) in my mother’s womb.
14
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well."
