Feb 15th, 2021: Love has no boundary
It might be appropriate to look at some of the well-known quotes about love today. Love has been written and talked about throughout human history. Love is something we need and yet don't always know where it is from and how to receive it. We have struggled with loving others and ourselves since the beginning of life. There are many common themes about love in different cultures and belief systems.
"I may not be your first date, kiss, or love, but I want to be your last" - (China)
Many people who discover Jesus' love for the first time have mentioned a similar message they have received from Him. God wants to be our last Lover from then on.
"The quarrel of lovers is the renewal of love" - (Morocco)
Our relationship with God is not always smooth. The more we struggle with our love for God, the more we learn to receive His love. That's why we find it hard to pray and to be at peace at times. Our struggle in loving God tells us that our love is real, not fabricated.
"If the full moon loves you, why worry about the stars" - (Tunisia)
This happens when we believe in God's love for us. If God is for us, why worry about those who are against us. We are looking for love in people who might fail us when we dismiss the love of God. We ignore what God thinks when yearning for offers.
"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies" - (Plato)
We understand this a lot better when we spend time with two people who love one another for a long time. They talk alike, think alike, they can finish each other's thoughts, they know how to take turns to speak. They are not just two lovers. They become one in loving.
"Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all" - (St. Augustine)
Love always demands sacrifices, and it's not an investment that yields personal gain. However, without deciding to love, the real loss is our chance to see God in others.
"Forgiveness is the final form of love" - (Reinhold Niebuhr)
God's forgiveness is the foundation of our restoration. It reconciles men to God, and its implication is eternal. There is no other form of love is needed beyond the Cross.
Now I am going to end this with a quote for the Lover Himself.
John 3: 16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
