Feb 2nd, 2021: Acceptable Approach toward Dehumnization?

 The Danger of Dehumanizing Others

When a government decides to silence a specific group of people, it is beginning to dehumanize them. Our freedom of thoughts does take us to a place where we will disagree with one another. I don't support people who propagate hatred. However, if we deal with them by shutting them down and takes away their rights, is it much different from their hatred?

A new form of tyranny appears when shutting down those who disagree with us. We have witnessed that this past week as the Russian government arrested thousands of people who support Alexei Navalny. These protesters have a different view and hope for Russia. In the meantime, many Chinese in Hong Kong departed for the UK as they are afraid of the coming cracking down from the government.

We in Canada and the US have begun to feel the power of the new cultural arrangement. We now replace one form of policing with another. That is scary. Saying what we believe now can be viewed as committing a crime if our view doesn't fit with the political correctness agenda. In Canada, for example, it will be illegal for parents to get help for their children to discern their sexuality. A young and underage person is not permitted to drink and smoke. Yet, he (she) has the right to decide on his (her) sexuality without help.

What used to be right is wrong. What used to be moral is now immoral. What used to be beautiful is now detested. What used to be healthy is now sick. I am ready for the day when the cultural police will come and charge me for what has been my conviction. We are all created equally in the image of God, and none of us has the moral fibers to live that out faithfully. We are dealing with the collective sum of human brokenness, and none of us is free from it. Believing that we cannot go wrong in our ways of life is going about life blindly. We don't have a monopoly over what is right and wrong. May God help us all.

Isaiah 5: 20

"Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!"

Psalm 119: 105

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
