March 12th, 2021: Thinking Ahead
Thinking Ahead is challenging for many of us because we are so preoccupied with what is going on right now. When that happens, we fail to have the needed imagination to anticipate God's work in the world. When we don't think ahead, we might not see the importance of prayers. So how does it means to think ahead?
Make sure we make time to meditate and ponder to have the chance to see things from a different perspective. We need to have the freedom to remove ourselves from our daily tasks to have our moments alone with God. We will learn to see the world from a totally different set of eyes. Sometimes we are just so busy and fail to see what is happening around us. We learn to survive without any imagination.
Think about different forces (internal and external) that have been pulling us apart. We need to ask the question of why these forces can have such a pull. The worse thing we can do is to dismiss them. It is the moment to realize that we are fighting a spiritual battle. It is part of being prophetic. We need to have the ability to comprehend the scope of current events beyond this present moment. When we allow ourselves to embrace that with God, we become aware of demonic forces working in the world.
We should learn how to make decisions when it comes to dealing with our distractions. We cannot think ahead without having a focus. When we eliminate things that cloud our vision, we regain hope and confidence in God in our future. Thinking Ahead is to believe that God is in charge, and we love to engage Him in all aspects of life. We regain the courage to name what is evil. We learn how to think ahead with the conviction that God is in the future.
Be aware of our ignorance so that we don't assume that we know what people are looking for and need. We cannot think ahead without committing ourselves to prayers. It is not about being religious, it is about having discernment so that we won't be blind. The liar will continue to deceive us in different names and causes. We cannot think ahead while being deceived.
Thinking ahead sometimes is having an appreciation for what we have gone through in the past. We don't have to eliminate the horrid past of history to have a future. We need to learn from it, embrace it with sincerity and humility.
Proverbs 28:26
"Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered."
Proverbs 13:16
"A wise man thinks ahead; a fool doesn’t, and even brags about it!"
