March 2nd, 2021: Procrastination, a Fear of Living
I have had many conversations with various people recently about regrets and their bucket lists. One good thing that comes from not being able to do many things and not being distracted by other life events is to have time to reflect. So the question we have today is how we deal with the "ought to" in life.
We encounter our fear. We discover how we have avoided conversations, people, managing bad habits, and some internal struggles. Somehow we feel paralyzed whenever we think about these aspects of life. They won't go away by themselves, and they always find their ways to come back and nag us.
We desire perfection although we know that it is impossible. We find excuses for not making any effort to confront life challenges. Some of us might look the other ways to procrastinate. We decide to wait as if waiting will bring about the needed answers.
Sometimes it can be our jealousy and envy. We cannot accept that the outcomes of our choices might not be as good as others'. We don't want to be in that position because our jealousy tells us lies about our self-worth. We are holding back so that we can preserve our pride.
Proverbs 6:4
"Don’t put it off; do it now! Don’t rest until you do."
Ephesians 5: 15-17
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is."
