March 8th, 2014: Accountability
It is rather interesting to see how some people cry foul when others demand them to be accountable for their conduct. This kind of behavior has no age limit. I have seen men my age still acting as if they were in their 20's in terms of their maturity. These folks tend to play the victim at the same time. They gossip and stir up troubles to divert attention from the real issue, the lack of accountability.
Accountability is the pathway to grow in various aspects of life. Many of us understand that when it comes to our professional life. It is a godly response because we need to show that we earn an honest wage for our work or service. Accountability also works in personal relationships. When we are unwilling to honor our end in a relationship, things will go sideways very quickly. We see that often when spouses ignore each other's needs, parents abuse their children, children dishonor their parents, men and women manipulate one another to get their way, and many more.
Accountability is the pride to stand up for what we are about and what we are willing to do. When we don't take pride in the work of our labor, we might deny the beauty of God in our contribution to the world. I have seen men and women who do simple jobs well, and by doing so, they have brought much joy and appreciation to their work. It is not about having a platform before we can perform so that the whole world can see. It is about creating one so that we can continue to build on what is good and noble.
Accountability is the humility we need so that we can listen to others as God intends for us. If we choose not to be accountable, we communicate to others that we don't care what they think and see. We destroy the whole notion of the body of Christ. Different parts of our body have to do their jobs well so that the rest of the body can function effectively. When one part of that body suffers, the rest has to compensate. However, if we live in denial while dealing with our issues, we might destroy the body further.
Romans 14: 12
"So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God."
