April 11th, 2021: Harassment is Bullying.

We are tired of dealing with Covid-19. Once again, we are experiencing shut down as the Province of Alberta goes back to Phase 1 (the highest level of shutting down). When I start blogging at the beginning of this pandemic a year ago, I didn't imagine we are still in the middle of it. For a while, it was academic to think about Covid-19 because not too many people we know contracted the virus. Not anymore. We have some friends and family members who got it and suffered seriously from it. It is now just an ugly reality.

I wrote a few days ago about how some people have mistreated others because they don't see the seriousness of this virus and shame others for taking vaccines and wearing masks. Earlier this week, I heard about an incident where a worker verbally harassed one of his peers for wearing a mask. The abused one was sick from the virus a few weeks ago. I won't write down the words I would use to describe the abuser. But I will share with you what I think about the behavior:

A) It is unkind to attack and criticize someone who decides to wear a mask knowing he was sick from the virus.

B) It is the ultimate expression of ignorance and stupidity to think that we know better because we are not sick.

C) It is emotionally immature, spiritually uncaring, and mentally underdeveloped to think that we have the right to judge and to condemn others who want to be cautious because they were sick from the virus.

Now you know how irritated I am. Just know that people are getting sick from this virus. Many have recovered when many others have struggled to regain their normalcy of life. Some died.

Ephesians 4: 29-32

"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."
