April 1st, 2021: April Fool

The significance of Easter on April Fools Day from the Christian perspective

If I tell you that I robbed a bank and killed someone in the process, you would not believe me and cry: "April Fool".

What if I tell you that I struggle with what it means to be faithful to God in how I go about God's plan for my life. Some of you might understand. Some of you might not. I have my struggles with disbelief.

What if I tell you that I sometimes resent how Christians treat their workers and all of the hypocrisy that comes with it. Some of you might be confused, and some of you might say you didn't know. Some of you might even be angry.

Easter is the time for us to reflect on all of the confusion, anger, disbelief, and hypocrisy that Jesus' disciples portrayed at the time when He needed them most. He prayed for them they could be one with Him as He and the Father are one. He also prayed for their protection.

There is always a degree of foolishness in believing in God and His plan to redeem the world. What we have seen in human history is another story. Nations rely on their military power to seek compliance. They use their high-tech sophistication to penetrate one another's framework of security. They use their financial influence to manipulate the global market. God overcomes human calamity with Jesus' death. That might have been the most intriguing April Fool of all.
