April 2nd, 2021: Easter is About God's Lovingkindness
A couple I know happened to get Covid-19 at the same time. The husband was not doing so well, so he had to be in the hospital. The wife, on the other hand, was not affected by it all that much. Once again, this Covid-19 hits close to me and my circle of friends. Thankfully, the young fellow started feeling better and was released yesterday. He told us that one of the men, who shared his hospital room, died the night before he left. Fourteen people died during the short few days he was there. He is thankful for his wife's faith while caring for him. He is also grateful for the prayers of many during that time.
When we are sick and in need of the help of our significant other, we discover the meaning of lovingkindness. Easter is also the time for us to embrace God's lovingkindness. In Hebrews, there are three preconditions for lovingkindness to be manifested.
There has to be a committed relationship between the two parties. God is committed to us, and He longs for us to respond with similar commitments. What are our responses to that commitment?
During that relationship, each one of them will take turn to be the stronger one and the weaker one. However, whoever is the stronger one will never give up on the weaker one.
Easter reminds us of these three truths. God is committed to us, and He longs we are committed to Him. He is always the stronger one, and He will never let go of us. As we ponder on the mystery of the cross on this Easter Friday, let our hearts rest in God's lovingkindness.
Isaiah 54: 10
"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you."
