April 7th, 2021: God is for Us

I have to be honest I tend to root for the underdogs if my favorite teams are not playing when watching sports competitions. Somehow watching a team that has been written off by experts and sports commentators winning a championship is rewarding.

Many people I meet in my work have the same feeling about themselves as the underdogs. They feel like failures. Some have gone through many failed relationships. They don't believe in themselves, and their families don't believe in them either. They live their lives with the fear of not being good enough. Some of them think that God has abandoned them or forgot that He created them.

In God's eyes, there is no underdog. We face challenges in this life because the world is not fair and kind. We are not either. The sense of failure we feel at times is the outcome of our deliberate disobedience to God and our intentional taking advantage of others. God is cheering for us whenever we take the right turn to correct our old ways of life. He wants us to win over the scheme of the evil one.

The problem is sometimes we score on our own net. We are confused and fail to know whom we play against, and we score against our team. We do that often when it comes to not having the courage to do what is right. Sometimes we choose what is convenient and easy.

The Bible tells us that we will win in the last minutes. We need to decide to stay in the game. How often we quit before we get the chance to see the benefits.

1 Corinthians 2: 12

"Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God."
