May 3rd, 2021: A New Agony
I wonder how it will take for Christians in Canada to lose our freedom to express our faith and moral convictions. "Practicing Hatred" is the phrase that has been used to shut us up when people's conscience is being disturbed (university campuses have forbidden any presentation of abortion). People of faith have been accused of being narrow-minded when taking a moral position on any controversial issue.
Many new legislations have been trying to diminish the Christian voice in our culture. We are now dealing with an acceptable practice of hypocrisy. A culture that calls for tolerance and openness towards differences while intentionally either condemning or overlooking Christian worldviews. When there is no moral conviction, communication is meaningless and appreciation for human dignity is superficial.
The voice of reasons has been ignored or forgotten. Propaganda has taken over public conversations. We use racial discrimination, sexual orientation, and gender diversity languages as new ways of exercising power over others. Disagreements will lead to unjust condemnation. Because of that, some will have no access to education, artistic expression, public engagement, voices in the public square, and more. A new cultural revolution is now displaying itself in various aspects of our society. It has no discernment over the good and bad of history. It demands that our history has to be re-written with today's worldviews. It calls for total conformity and the elimination of free speech gradually. Celebration of slavery now has taken over true freedom. We are facing the new birth of oppressive authoritarian power.
Galatians 5: 13
"For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."
Psalm 118: 5
"Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free."
