May 8th, 2021: Don't Be Ashamed of God

Well, it is hard to know what our leaders are up to these days. There seems to be an orchestrated effort to keep God out of any public celebration or speech. When we use terms like religious activity to describe faith, we have failed to understand the nature of who God is in human history. It is not about an attempt to find God. Prayer is how we acknowledge that God is actively involved in human life regardless of what we do and don't do.

Here is the solemn verse that we might want to consider while being ashamed of acknowledging God.

"But whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven." - Matthew 10: 33

I happen to believe in the truth of this verse. If we continue this trend, we will face a decline on many fronts in our nations.

The decline in our belief in truth: our nations are going through a terrible time to know what is true and untrue. Our problems in dealing with Covid-19 are simply examples of that. More and more people are skeptical of what their politicians and medical experts have to say. Either indifference or anger has taken over many people's responses.

The decline in order and nobility: there is a spirit that celebrates unrest in our nations. Unfortunately, some of our leaders from various political spectrum have encouraged that. We don't have respect for one another's thoughts, property, and conviction. "I will destroy you because I just happen to disagree with you" has been the theme of the day.

The decline in wisdom and understanding: this will destroy our society faster than anything. I have not seen any leaders call us to pray for wisdom in dealing with our global calamity and predicament. We witnessed more talking heads in the political spectrum than ever before. The shallowness is impossible to ignore. Spiritual ignorance is even more troublesome.

Remember that we still need to ask God to preserve and protect our nations even when our leaders are ashamed of doing so.
