June 1st, 2021: Random and Designed Beauty

A friend of mine painted this painting. She has developed an incredible style that combines both random approach and intentional control. It is fascinating. I really like her work because I have no idea what the final product will be.

We are living our lives in a similar fashion in some ways. When we can be excited by the unexpected and disciplined in what we like to plan for life, our lives will be a combination of God's beauty and our manifestation of God's gifts. God reveals Himself often in what appears to be random in our eyes. Our delightful surprises are based on these moments of life.

She is intentional about the choices of colors and how she places them at the beginning. When the colors are going to cover the canvas, it is the art of imagination. God is very intentional about how He places us in the world according to His gifts to us. However, we are responsible for developing and nurturing these blessings. When the two are coming together, we are living out the will of God for our lives.

My friend would wait to see how the colors intertwine before she plans her next move. She would move the canvas to allow some colors to layer over one another. She might add a tad more of one of the colors. Waiting for God is an essential aspect of spiritual development. God might want us to take time to understand how everything has worked together in our lives before calling us to the next chapter of our journeys with Him.

Psalm 8: 3,4

"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?"
