July 12th, 2021: Yes or No? No Confusion...

Most people I know are law-abiding citizens generally. We don't purposely go out and disobey the law. However, Canadian regulations concerning traveling have been a bit baffling to me. People constantly find loopholes to travel because of the lack of consistency. So when a friend sent me this picture, it describes our situation perfectly. It is not about traveling only either. It is about the general state of being as nations worldwide are coming to grip with the many challenges.

As confusing as this picture is, it describes what we are going through morally as well. We have put an end to the influence of the Judeo-Christian ethics as the foundation of our law and order. What we have decided to accept is open-ended. Some people call it being "progressive". Others might say it is outright confusing. It will be interesting to see how things turn out if we keep up with this rate of progressiveness. We might enter the new era of anti-human decency without knowing it. We will replace racism with antagonism.

Our contemporary has looked down on everything traditional. Anything that contradicts the contemporary sentiments of injustice will be rejected. No discussion and no disagreement will be welcome in our current culture. What is the difference between that and what people in North Korea have had to endure? Self-righteous cultural mobs are taking the place of the government secret police. By the way, these new cultural mobs don't believe in policing either. We can be censored by the social media power mob as well. None of these folks has any accountability structure.

Our governments have not found any meaningful ways to create healthy dialogues. In Canada, our government has used the pandemic to shut down discussions about serious issues. We have put the well-being of our nation on hold. The new form of anarchy seems to be accepted. It is no surprise that many countries will face a period of great division. The church needs to take her leadership seriously and not be confused by the spirit of the word. J.I. Packer put it this way: “Our business is to present the Christian faith clothed in modern terms, not to propagate modern thought clothed in Christian terms… Confusion here is fatal.”

Revelation 12:9-10

“And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God.”
