July 1st, 2021: Overcoming! Canada!

I decided to change my blog for this Canada Day at the last minute after a fire took place at the hay plant of a client yesterday evening. It was a damaging fire and devastating to owners, employees, clients, and suppliers. As the owner and I stood and watched the firefighters trying to control the fire, we talked about reassessing the damage, the production capacity, and the rebuilding arrangement. We don't really know the cause, but the current heatwave has not made things simple in the hay business.

Many thoughts came to my mind as I drove back to the hotel. There was a severe shock right at the beginning, and then there is a quiet resiliency about making plans to keep moving things forward. The commitment to rebuild is there, and now we just have to get people and processes together. This short exchange makes me proud to be a Canadian.

We will not be a bunch of giving up people because bad things happen. We will learn and grow and continue to get better in who we are in God and what we are doing.

We will not be ashamed of our setbacks. We will gather men and women who can help us to rebuild so that we can provide for many future generations.

We pray that we will rise above the obstacles. We will not blame anyone for our own mistakes. We will not wait for a handout from the government. We will clean the plan up, reorganize it and be ready for production on Friday.

It was an unfortunate event. The determination of the ownership and the key leaders helps me to know that there is hope for Canada. We are a nation of entrepreneurship. We will not allow mistakes in the past to stop us from being focus and prayerful about the future.

So Happy Canada Days to my fellow Canadians! Pray for Green Prairie Inc. as we start this new day with God and His people.

Psalm 118: 25-26

"Lord, save us!

 Lord, grant us success!

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

From the house of the Lord, we bless you."
