Aug 13th, 2021: Making Life Complicated

Do we tend to make life more complicated than it needs to be? That is the question that some people have been asking. I have been thinking about that a lot these days because of the many complications that exist in life. There are many reasons for that, and not all of them are bad.

God created our emotions when He created us in His image. We experience joy and sorrow so that we can identify with Him. We can appreciate both the beauty of God and the fallacy of the world with our emotions. We can differentiate between the righteousness of God and the injustice of the world as well. Our emotional responses to life can pose complications.

We depend on one another for our well-being. Our dependency on one another would go a lot better without sin. Most of our brokenness in life happens within the context of human relationships. When we are not right with God, it is impossible to be right with one another. That is when complications in relationships start.

We become impatient while waiting for God and one another. We want things to happen a lot faster than what we are experiencing. We then take matters into our own hands, and that is the beginning of a complicated process. Things usually do not go well when we ignore God and control one another. Impatience sometimes brings about uncertainty.

Other people might not appreciate who we are and sometimes attack us. That is a fact of life, and we might try to avoid it. The more we want to have the approvals of others, the more complicated our lives will become. We might ignore our moral compass by doing so. We end up losing our way.

John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."
