Aug 26th, 2021: Seeing Our Life as a Kite

I used to enjoy flying kites when I was a kid. We made them out of newspaper, bamboo, and rice glues. My friends and I would go to some empty fields and flew kites together. Sometimes, we played dog fights with our kites.

Kite has a long history. As much as we can determine, kit started in China (475-220 BC). Now, many countries around the world have their own kite versions. We can use kites for many purposes besides having fun. We see its use in the military, meteorology, atmospheric research, sports competitions, and more.

Our life is like a kite in many ways. We have different purposes because God created us differently. When a kite's design is more sturdy, the higher it flies. Some kites can resist the challenges of weather conditions. Sometimes God gives us gifts is to protect others. We are supposed to care for people. God grants us the ability to look beyond the obvious in others so we can help them grow and develop. Sometimes we are called to pray because God wants to show us His plan for the world.

A kite cannot go anywhere without the string and the kite player. He (She) is the one who guides the kite and moves it to higher altitudes. He (She) can retrieve the kite back anytime he (she) sees fit. We can have the freedom to live our lives with dreams, hope, and aspiration. We need to remember that God is still in control, and He will call us back whenever He needs to do so. Freedom and Obedience are what we have to manage in order to enjoy our life with God and one another.

Isaiah 40: 31

"Yet those who wait for the Lord

Will gain new strength;

They will mount up with wings like eagles,

They will run and not get tired,

They will walk and not become weary."
