Sept 1st, 2021: Psalm 51: Verses 3 and 4
Now comes the heart-to-heart conversation between King David and God in verses 3 and 4.
For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
There was no denial of his sin and transgressions. He didn't blame anyone else for his broken condition. He acknowledged that by sinning against God, he also damaged many other people.
He knew that he was outside of God's plan for him when he did what was evil in God's sight. He knew how that his action created a separation between him and God.
He didn't doubt God's righteousness. He depended on it for his restoration. He claimed full responsibility for his action. That is the kind of leadership we don't see often these days.
