Oct 12th, 2021: Monday Morning Quarterbacks

Monday Morning Quarterback is the term we use to describe people who comment about a football game after it is over. Most of them have never played the game. Some of them make absolutely no sense when they talk about the game. It is a game of seconds for many of these players. They make choices out of instinct at times.

When it comes to how we observe our police services, we might make the same mistake. Many critics have been quite harsh when it comes to police conduct. Indeed, more training never hurts. It is also true that these officers don't have the luxury of time to see everything. They are there to enforce the law. They have to make decisions in a matter of seconds.

How many of us would take a job when we become targets as soon as we put our uniform on? They have also become the target of self-righteous and pompous folks who believe they have the god-given right to speak on behalf of human rights and human dignity.

We know what happens in the US when politicians try to appease the call for defunding the police. Crime rates and murder rates go up. I would ask for defunding politician pension plans before entertaining the idea of defunding the police. Who died defending politicians when rioters stormed Capitol Hill last Jan? Brian Sicknick, a Capitol Police Force member, was overpowered and beaten by rioters. Where were most of the politicians, the defenders of our constitution? Most were hiding under desks and avoiding confrontation with the angry crowd. It is time to show some appreciation for men and women in police services in our nation.

Romans 13: 1-2

"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment."
