Oct 23rd, 2021: Lessons in Growing
Many young people are looking for the signposts of life these days. Some of them are university grads who have graduated during the pandemic and faced challenges while looking for work in their field of study. Some have succeeded in dealing with them when others are still going through a hard time. The common themes we discover together are the following:
Facing the hardship of life should not be a surprise to us. That is the fact of life. When we think that others are responsible for our life challenges, we will continue to live in our self-created imprisonment of pity. No one owes us anything when it comes to our life purpose and direction. Life is not a piece of cake because sin happens.
The pursue of happiness might be the worst fallacy of life. It has no long-term and enduring impact, and it denies us the chance to face our internal struggles. Happiness comes and goes, and we don't have any idea why sometimes. Joy should be the foundation of life as we learn to make our marks in this world by applying the gifts that God has given us.
Every day is the beginning of learning and growing. We take our personal growth seriously when we consider our personal accomplishments lightly. There is always more to achieve, and we don't do that because of money. We do that because we are aware that there is much more God has entrusted within us. It is more than being successful. It is about aiming to defeat the many lies that we have heard about ourselves.
Romans 15:13
"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
James 1:2-3
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience."
