Jan 19th, 2020: What Next?
Flying is not all that fun these days. We are not free to sneeze when waiting in line to check-in. We have to be sure that we have all of our paperwork together. Everything is automated in most airports because we try to avoid human interaction as much as possible. Have you ever tried to take your mask off for every single sip of coffee during your flight? It is not easy to remember.
My first flight after the pandemic began was in March 2020 from Montreal to Calgary. It was a strange feeling to be at a deserted airport in Montreal. It seemed to be so unreal. Everything was different. Many of the passengers were actually airline employees. They were on their way home while knowing that they might not have a job in a few weeks.
My first feeling was one of not knowing about tomorrow. I had heard from relatives in Vietnam of how everything shut down. Life stopped, as some of them put it. I got my answer during my time of prayer was to continue to reach out and communicate God's presence and care for the world.
We live in a very challenging time. The crisis the world has to face and the lack of godly and capable leadership to navigate through this time continue to be a prayerful matter. We need to pray for what would come during the post-pandemic time. What have we lost during the last two years that we will not get back? What would be our responses if our governments will not remove all of the pandemic safety measures when COVID 19 becomes an endemic? History tells us that governments rarely let go of the power they gain. We will see.
“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.” - Psalm 46:1
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” - 1 Peter 5:7
