Jan 28th, 2022: Care About Small Things...
We are annoyed when we see shopping carts left right in the middle of a parking lot. Sometimes I wonder why people don't seem to care about what they do. How hard is it to take them back to their parking stall? The danger and the inconvenience that may hurt others are sometimes dangerous.
When we fail to do a small thing well, we are just getting smaller. Selfishness will reduce the meaning of our own identity. Small actions are not small when we get them done at the right time and place. They will lead us to significant growth in life when we are diligent about it. All great journeys start with a single step.
When we undermine the action we take in dealing with small decisions in life, we will be overwhelmed by their consequences in the long run. Most university students learn that they will eventually fail their final exams if they don't take their weekly assignments and mid-term exams seriously. A person will learn not to rely on their spouse if he (she) continues to fail in keeping his (her) promises.
Maybe there is no such thing as a small thing. Maybe only in our perception that it is. An insignificant event that happens to one person can be an outrageous incident in other people's life. A drunk driver thinks that one more drink should not be a problem, only to find out within less than half an hour later that he destroys a family's hope and joy by killing their daughter.
So let us take care of small things well so that God can entrust us with greater responsibilities in life.
Luke 16: 10
"One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much."
