Jan 6th, 2022: The Winter of Human Heart
The winter in Canada would be perfect if it ends about now. I love winter but 6 months of it is kind of long. Many of my brothers have been talking about retiring in a warmer climate because of it. Sometimes I wonder whether it is the cold weather one or we are getting older and long for what we used to have. The same thing can also be said about our diet. We tend to eat more food that we were familiar with as kids.
Many of us have also found that we are missing the time when things are clear and simple. Nowadays, we don't even know what is the "proper" way to talk about issues and thoughts. We cannot state our belief because it might appear to be judgmental and discriminatory. We face persecution and judgments without any due process because there we don't need one in the new moral framework. Being judged by the court of public opinion is good enough. It is a new winter in our moral climate.
We are now in the middle of the winter of our human thoughts as well. We have to be careful about the environment (self-protection). We cannot breath easily because of the cold air (freedom of speech). We cannot be outside for a long time (freedom of faith expression). We cannot go for a long walk in the beautiful nature (be open about our life long journey with God). We have bundle up (we have no idea who is going to attack us next because of our conviction).
Galatians 5: 19-21
"Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
