Feb 1st, 2022: What Are We Going Through?
Many people I know struggle with depression at this time of the year. The winter is just too long for these folks. Depression has also increased among teenagers since they have experienced intense and prolonged isolation.
People experience more stress these days and seem less patient and ruder towards one another. The paranoia is based on fears; fear of not knowing who might get us sick, being controlled by the government, fear of losing one's business.
Many young university students are both angry and anxious about their education. They don't know what kind of education they are going to get. It is easy to say that they can just study online. We forget that not many university professors know how to teach.
Working single parents have paid a steep price for this pandemic. They don't always know the school schedules of their kids. Our government can cancel school at the last minute. It is not that simple to work from home and help your kids with school. Life has also become more expensive.
These are real situations that I have encountered during the last two years. There is no speculation, just reality. We need to learn to be more gracious and understanding. We need to come to terms with the fact we might not get rid of this virus. We need common sense, respect, and awareness in order to move on and live our lives.
