Feb 3rd, 2022: Living Water
A friend of mine from Punjabi India sent me this picture a few mornings ago. He is a good fellow who always encourages me with my work. I thought about what it said for a while. Now I am sharing with you my Christian reflection on it.
Jeremiah describes God as "living water" (Jeremiah 2:13 and 17:13). In John 4, we learn that Jesus had a conversation with a Samaritan woman about living water. Somehow we have the indications that living water is about various truths of God.
We need to learn what it means to be obedient as life challenges confront us (Adjust ourselves in every situation). It is not about being wishy-washy. It is about living the truths of God in different circumstances of life.
We can be poor or wealthy and healthy or sick. We can be courageous or timid. God calls us to be the reflections of His truths in any situation of our life. Our life situations should not alter these truths within us.
Our only way is the way of the Cross. God asks us to forsake everything and follow Him. When we do that, life will flow through us and to others. Life is now within us and with others.
John 7: 38-39
"Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."
Isaiah 41: 17 and 18
"Whoever believes in me, as \of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified."
