Feb 4th, 2022: What Have We Lost?
This picture reminds us of how our panic about this pandemic began. Toilet paper became the center of attention. People rushed to the store to stock up the precious soft tissues to ensure their future comfort. I still remember going to the closest Costco in early March 2020 and seeing the madness.
Two years later, we might want to think about what has gone down the toilet in our society. We have plenty of toilet paper while we have flushed down other aspects of life.
Our trust in governments and public health officials has deteriorated. The inconsistency and the self-contradictory information about various measures brought doubts and cynicism.
Our loss in human contacts. This loss has been the source of more mental illness than we can measure at this time. Seniors citizens suffer from loneliness, and children have been affected severely due to isolation.
Our sense of agitation. We are agitated at one another, and things in life much faster now. Graciousness and kindness have been the victim of life because of the lack of choices and freedom.
Our hope for the future. We are tired of uncertainty. We want to be able to enjoy the simple things of life. Sometimes I wonder about the long-term consequences of children's mental health because of this pandemic.
"For innumerable evils have surrounded me;
My iniquities have overtaken me so that I am not able to look up;
They are more than the hairs of my head;
Therefore my heart fails me."
"And like their bow, they have bent their tongues for lies.
They are not valiant for the truth on the earth.
For they proceed from evil to evil,
And they do not know Me,” says the LORD."
