Feb 7th, 2022: Wisdom vs Power
Regardless of our stand in this pandemic and vaccination, COVID 19 has changed our ways of life in many ways. As the world prepares for the endemic stage of COVID 19, we might want to ask ourselves how we are going to listen to God so that we can move forward with hope and confidence.
We need to be become more prayerful and listen to God more attentively. God has been absent in the public domain when we listen to our leaders to tell us what to do in dealing with the pandemic. Science has become a new god, and its messages have been inconsistent and unclear to some people. Putting our trust in men can be problematic in all situations.
When money and power become the focus of life, truth sometimes becomes the first casualty. We will not be able to go very far with one another in our search for the truth when God is absent. People accuse one another of being ignorant, naive, and misinformed. Medical practitioners don't seem to be able to speak with one voice. Governments act like little kids as if they are playing soccer for the first time.
We need to manage power carefully. Governments sometimes require more authority in emergencies. However, they also need to be more transparent about how they oversee it. Mismanagement of power in any situation is abusive and ungodly. The exercise of power has to involve reasoning and conversations. Transparency and consistency have to be the foundation of governments' interaction with their people.
Power is like soap, the more we use it the less we have left. Wisdom is greatly needed.
Proverbs 4:6-7
"Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding."
Proverbs 11:2
"When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."
Colossians 2:2-3
"My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."
