March 24th, 2022: Standing Firm
Philippians 1:27
"Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel."
We live in a funny world.
We talk about equality and diversity as if they are golden rules.
We don't have it with the ease of travel restrictions.
Eight million Canadians still have no permission.
We have allowed ourselves to create two different classes of people.
The pandemic has become a catalyst for new discrimination that is acceptable.
Some might even say they are dangerous to society.
Their conviction is the freedom to protect their own body.
Why don't they trust in science, some might ask?
Science mixed with greed seems to be a mask.
It is not right that they have no freedom to live their life.
Now the pandemic has become an endemic with regular strife.
Some even now practice shaming those who disagree with them.
Civility has taken a step back in this COVID 19 realm.
We fail to acknowledge that sickness is part of human brokenness.
Death was introduced to humanity because sin has damaged our wholesomeness.
None of us knows the whole story.
We are bombarded by both misinformation and inflammatory.
Pharmaceutical companies show a lack of transparency.
Some simple folks lean more and more towards what others call conspiracy.
We are left divided because of our greed and fear.
We cannot find a common language to address one another as peers.
Governments seem to be content not to bring about healing to our nations.
Political leaders don't care enough to erase the fractions.
May we learn what it means to have faith.
We don't need to look beyond what God has said.
Strive toward the future with hope.
Get away from the slippery slope.
