March 30th, 2021: Our Insecurity

7 Ways to Transform Clingy Insecurity Into a Superpower for Relationships

We are all familiar with what the wicked Queen in Snow White asked the mirror on the wall in order to be sure that she was still the most beautiful woman.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"

And expected the mirror answered:

"Thou, O Queen, art the fairest in the land."

We might not ask the same question to God. However, the intention we have in talking to God sometimes might not be all that different in terms of motives. Here are a few examples.

"Can we trust that you are with us when things are hard?"

"Why are we experiencing the immense loneliness while claiming that you are with us?"

"Why don't we feel like we understand what you are doing? It doesn't seem that you care for us."

When we think through these types of questions, we know that we are dealing with our insecurity. Jesus knew His disciple's fears before the crucifixion. He knew that Peter would be afraid and denied Him three times. He knew that the early disciples would experienced desolation after His death. They were scared and in doubt. Are we insecure about God's love for us?

The Queen went on a tirade when the mirror told her that she was no longer the fairest in the land. What would we do if God tells us we are not living out His will in this world? The Queen failed to realize that beauty was not the only issue when it came to that answer. How about us? What are our fears in receiving God's love? What has taken away our courage to be His people?

1 John 4: 18

"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love."
