April 8th, 2021: Peace with God?
Someone asked me yesterday what it means to have the Peace of God. My thoughts as the following:
When we release the desire to have complete control over our life or its circumstances. It is our fallacy to think we have such a control, to begin with. Our need to control is the source of many personal downfalls.
When we allow ourselves to be and see no need for self-justification. God loves our being with him before our doing things for him. Self-justification is our acknowledgment that something is not right with us. It is a form of survival.
When we can accept God's promise of forgiveness while learning how to care for others. We cannot move forward in life without forgiveness. We cannot look back without the same forgiveness from God either. We see hope no and no beauty when we do that.
When we are free from the burden of this life and the fear of death. That is when we have a glimpse of the everlasting. Life and death tend to co-exist as we try to search for their meanings. When we are able to see life as God's gift to us and death is only the beginning and not the end of the extension of that life.
"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
Psalm 23: 4
"Let the peace of God rule in your hearts."
Colossians 3: 15
