Dec 4th, 2021: Regeneration, Regrow and Rebirth

This slide is from a presentation of one of my nieces. She is very involved in helping businesswomen to participate in a sustainable economy. It is interesting to see the three verbs she uses to dig further into the meaning of to sustain. Let us consider these verbs within the context of the Christian faith.

Regeneration:

John 6:63

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life."

Titus 3:5

"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit."

God renews us daily as His Spirit continues to work within us. God is about life, and we are the benefactors of His work. He restores our brokenness. He grants us purpose and hope in regeneration.

Regrow:

James 1: 18

"In the exercise of His will, He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures."

God transplanted us with His truth. We are no longer children of lies and liars. We now can be flourished and be fruitful. Lies and deceit will destroy any potential harvest that God has in mind for us. Truth produces first fruits. Fruits that bring comfort and restoration to our human souls.

Rebirth:

1 Peter 1: 22-25

"For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. For,

“All flesh is like grass,

And all its glory like the flower of grass.

The grass withers,

And the flower falls off,

But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

And this is the word which was preached to you."

Our lives are now everlasting, and they have eternal meaning. We are no longer about acquisition but transformation. Our lives will make a difference in others. We will walk with confidence in God's grace, knowing that we do not need to be in control.
