Dec 2nd, 2022: Some Thoughts About Being Happy
This picture implies that 2022 continues to be a puzzle for many of us. The most challenging problem for all of us is to find out what is true and what is not. We wish we possess the needed knowledge and wisdom to do and be right. We end up creating a society that has been overwhelmed with distrust and anger. So what does "Happy" really mean to us then?
Hope in the faithfulness of God. We have come to the point in human history that we have become cynical and distrusting worldly authorities. Lies, deceits, self-serving agendas, the pursuit of ungodliness have become the hallmark of many of them. We feel betrayed and used by unkept promises and meaningless political jargon. It is time to be reminded of God's faithfulness toward us as His children. There is no need to fall for another deceiving lover.
Avoiding meaningless chatters: Our commitment should be about building one another up and creating hope. We should not focus on what divides us. Let us be encouraging and hopeful in our conversations.
Pursuing God's presence: Our governments have been avoiding God during the most challenging time of human history. We might have better answers for what we are dealing with by listening to God more often. We might want to start our day with the desire to be in God's presence.
Peacefulness in adversity: Stress and anxiety have been the focal points of many conversations we have these days. When we live like spiritual orphans, we cannot get away from being stressed and anxious. The peacefulness of our hearts comes from our belief that no adversity is more than God's ability to overcome it.
Yielding to the will of God: That begins by not being preoccupied with our fear and frustration. Learn to seek His answers in responding to different scenarios. We need to be students of Scripture, so we might know how to discern between truth and lies.
"In his pride, the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God." - (Ps 10:4)
"The Lord is with you when you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you" - 2 Chronicles 15: 2b
