Jan 4th, 2022: Where Would You Go?
Just pretend that we are planning to take a trip for the entire 2022. Where would we like to go, and how would we plan to pack for that trip? Many have told me that 2021 was a blip, and some don't have hopeful expectations for 2022.
Would we consider a destination where we can be free from all of the stress of COVID 19? We can go wherever we need to go, and there is no dress code or vaccine passport required. Somehow that seems to be like a dream to us. When we consider the destination, it somehow shows our feelings and reaction to our current location.
Would we consider a location where people can take time and talk? We don't need to worry about FaceTime, SMS, and Zoom. We can have an intimate one-on-one chat and reach out and hug one another. Sometimes we want to find a place where we don't have to run away from ourselves or other people's expectations of us. It is a place where we can be ourselves and be accepted.
How would we pack for such a trip? We cannot "pack" the past if we are not in touch with the present. We cannot truly consider today if we don't have hope for tomorrow. We might want to pack things others might need, not just ourselves. We might also want to prepare ourselves mentally to embrace God's purpose for that journey. We learn a lot more from that journey than just worldly things. It teaches us how to regain our true selves. We experience freedom when that happens.
Bon Voyage if you have decided to take the first step.
2 Corinthians 4: 16-18
"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
